7 things Blue-state Dems can do TODAY to Save Democracy

So many of our ballots get thrown out in every election. So many voters have their registration canceled. MILLIONS. But voters in BLUE STATES can do something about it. Call your STATE REPRESENTATIVE and demand that they pass a state bill to support voters' rights! Marc Elias' latest Democracy Docket video lays out 8 demands. For each demand, he goes into detail for what it is and why it is needed.

SUMMARY:

1) Statutory right to vote.

2) Ban practice of signature-matching for absentee ballots.

3) Extending absentee ballot receipt deadline.

4) Guaranteeing voters' right to wait in line NO MORE than 30 minutes to vote.

5) Prohibiting 3rd-party voter challenges. (This is a BIG one that absolutely flips elections.)

6) Banning voter intimidation.

7) Requiring that elections be accurately certified. No officials refusing to certify results. We need to know that ballots are being correctly recorded, counted, and certified. (And I would add that the process should include manditory AUDITS and recounts so that all voters can have confidence that no shady actors are committing election fraud on a massive scale.)

PLUS MARC’S BONUS DEMAND:

8) Repeal any processes (in your blue state) that TIE the state's hands in redistricting. All blue states need to be able to counter red-state gerrymandering. Follow the lead of California.
