Backyard Bird Racers
The Daily Kos Backyard Science Yardbird Race is a birding competition where, over the course of one year, participants strive to identify the most bird species - by sight and/or by sound - from the confines of their yards. Everyone who is participating in the race will be an editor of the group, which will be a place for announcements about tallies, as well as a place where everyone can access the information that we've all gathered over the year.

Backyard Science
Phenology is a science that anyone can practice without a lab coat, microscope, or PhD. It's the study of seasonal events such as first flowers, appearance of certain butterflies, etc. People have tracked these dates for decades -- even centuries -- and now there's a place on DK to record your own observations. World War Two Aircraft
This group is for those who have an interest in the history and the technology of aircraft used in the Second World War. Any aircraft which flew between 1st September, 1939 and 2nd September, 1945, even as a prototype, will count.
