I’m certain you seen stories similar to this, a single family half MAGA, half not. Two kids, a son (Chad) and a daughter (Haley) who are essentially progressives living in LA and New York(?) while their parents in Oklahoma are both hard-core full-on MAGA Cultists. It’s a very sad story.
This particular family makes regular videos where the children and parents discuss current events. Typically, the son presents and argument and asks his parents what they think. For example, in this video they show Mom video of ICE attacking, assaulting and detaining U.S. Citizens.
Most often, the answers he receives are completely bonkers. The mom simply denies what she’s seeing with her own eyes. She disputes the clear evidence shown in video and argues that it’s not possible. It couldn’t happen. ICE wouldn’t do that to a Citizen; there must be “some other reason”. Something else is happening. Something we can’t see. Something we don’t know about. There’s a SECRET TRUTH that we aren’t aware of.
In the video embedded above Chad asks both his parents what they think about the President using his power to turn the military against U.S. Citizens. The mom again excuses it again claiming “There would have to be a reason we don't know” but the father goes even further. He says such a thing would never happen to him in Oklahoma, but it would be just fine in California. He accuses his son of being “A Communist” — which Chad denies — and then he argues that “Communists Deserve to Die” and he would be just fine if Trump did order their extrajudicial murder with U.S. Troops.
He would even approve this type of murderous fascism being used against his own son. Because they “deserve it.”
Why the unreasoned hate for communism? Because its concepts are the greatest threat to the robber-baron oligarchs — the Mercers, the Wilks, the Adelsons, the Mudochs, the Kochs, the Ellisons, the Zuckerbergs, the Leos, the Bezos, the Musks — who fund and control the right-wing (and sometimes left) media. They use bread and circuses, cultural scandals to foment self-righteous outrage, but what they really want is massive deregulation, government dysfunction and tax cuts so they can make their fortunes immensely larger while ignoring the struggles and exploitation of the common man.
And of course, they have massive hate for George Soros and Bill Gates precisely because they *do* care about the lives of regular people. Can’t have that.
This is what we’re up against in this nation.
We often say that these people are in a Cult. We often compare them to Fascists and Nazis. I’ve said before that they are the New Confederacy. That was an entire society in the American South that managed to completely twist and upend the Gospels of Christ in order to justify the violent profitable exploitation, kidnapping, torture, rape, and murder of Africans. They calmly ignored “All men are created equal” by essentially redefining Africans to not actually be “Men.” Barely 3/5ths of a man, as the Original Constitution stated. Not worthy of the rights of Citizenship — even if they were free and not a slave — as the Dred Scot decision argued.
But I think it’s worse than that.
In order to justify their own unique and powerful “rights” they systematically denied the humanity of others, dividing the world and the country into “Us and Them.” Before 1651 this nation had indentured servitude, which was completely Race Blind. Becoming an Indentured Servant was the result of something you did. Such as committing a crime, being a prisoner of war, building up a debt, it could even be something you volunteered for in exchange for passage to the new world. When you had completed your payment and service, you were made free and were granted Freedom Dues, such as land and a plantation of your own. You might even receive your own set of indentured servants.
Obviously, over the course of decades, maintaining these freedom dues, including the promise of land and servants, became more and more difficult to provide, particularly since Native Americans were already living on that land. They had concocted a pyramid scheme which was unsustainable.
This system required a change. And the change they implemented, starting in Virginia, was to take away the freedom dues for African-born servants only. The contracts of their service was broken, they would not naturally regain their freedom after 5 or 10 years. There were not slaves FOR LIFE. And their children would be born into slavery, FOR LIFE. Their servitude wasn’t because of something they did, it was now intrinsically linked to WHO THEY ARE. It was now about what they were, Black. Different. Not White.
IMO this is how the concept of “Whiteness” came into being, because it really didn’t exist in Europe in the same way. Not that there wasn’t plenty of Racism in Europe against people from other lands, there was, but in their case, it included each other, even within Europe. The French battled the English. The Irish and Scottish battled the English, as did the Spanish, and the Italians, and the Greeks. Eastern Europeans were considered mongrels. There was no uniform “Whiteness” in Europe at that time. It didn’t exist.
Not until that concept happened in America when the law was used to separate the Whites/Europeans from the Blacks/Africans. They had to justify this rationale, which was made for profit, by arguing that Africans were not fully human. They were studied like lab animals, as if they were a different species. They came up with excuses. They adopted the “Curse of Ham” theology. They twisted facts and reality to justify all this. They were not like us.
There was US and THEM. And “they” didn’t count.
They did this for their own benefit and privilege. They’re still doing it.
To MAGAs, when they see someone do something wrong, they automatically presume that fact somehow increases the guilt of anyone they associate with that person. A migrant commits a crime, well then ALL migrants are dangerous. Someone from Afghanistan did something? OH, well, then we should EXPELL every Afghan from the country. Latinos have a gang? Deport them all.
But when it’s a White person — unless it’s a communist, socialist, or Antifa — who is in trouble with the law, he’s an “outlier.” He’s an exception to the rule. He should get the benefit of the doubt. Maybe, he just has an emotional problem or a personality disorder. It’s a mental problem. We don't assume that his actions are a reflection on every other white person on Earth. He doesn’t have a flaw in his culture. That’s ridiculous, He’s an Individual!
Yeah, the problem is that we are ALL individuals, but they don't see that. He’s a real boy. He’s a Real American. He’s a True Patriot. He has Rights. He should be presumed innocent. He’s a Citizen. The rest of us aren’t.
Listen to how these MAGAs talk. Here on Fox, MAGA Kaylee McGhee White argues, in support of Trump’s call to stop immigration from “3rd-World Nations,” that there are “Some cultures that are incompatible with ours.”
She’s wrong. We do have an obligation to other nations since we ratified the UN Convention on the Refugee.
The core principle of the 1951 Convention is non-refoulement, which asserts that a refugee should not be returned to a country where they face serious threats to their life or freedom.
The document outlines the basic minimum standards for the treatment of refugees, including the right to housing, work and education while displaced so they can lead a dignified and independent life. It also defines a refugee’s obligations to host countries and specifies certain categories of people, such as war criminals, who do not qualify for refugee status.
The next question is “What cultures is she talking about?” Who does she mean? Is she talking about New Guinea?
The entire construction of this country was intended to build common ground around simple values of equity and justice. Each person is to be protected from the excesses of government and industry. It’s a culture that is intended to provide the maximum in freedom, the maximum of individual cultural expression. There should be NO cultures that are incompatible with the Constitution.
But again, that concept reappears. US and THEM.
We are True Americans. Real Americans. Real Patriots. THEY are not. THEY are Alien, Foreign, Depraved Criminals unworthy of being even remotely like US. Unworthy of our laws, unworthy of our Constitution, unworthy of our precious Rights. It’s not the “Migrant Criminals” — it’s all migrants. Even those with legal visas and Green Cards. Even those who are U.S. Citizens. This isn’t about keeping Americans safe, it’s about purging the nation of those outsiders.
This week, six Veteran Democratic lawmakers made the argument that our military should be able are required to disobey ILLEGAL orders. MAGA loudly protested, arguing that this was an act of “Treason” and “Insurrection” by attempting to incite the military to ignore LEGAL orders from Trump.
On one hand, they ignored that they repeatedly stated “ILLEGAL ORDERS” and on the other hand, they claimed that “Trump hasn’t issued any Illegal orders.”
Yeah, right except for these.
Multiple federal court rulings have found that Donald Trump's military orders for domestic deployments, specifically the use of the National Guard for civilian law enforcement during 2025 protests, were
illegal and violated the Posse Comitatus Act.
Court decisions related to deployments in various cities found the orders unlawful:
- A U.S. district judge in September 2025 ruled that the use of military troops in Los Angeles for domestic law enforcement violated the Posse Comitatus Act. The judge described it as a "top-down, systemic effort" and found no valid exception to the law. An appeals court initially allowed the deployment but the district court ultimately found it unlawful.
- In November 2025, a federal judge ruled the National Guard deployment to Washington D.C. was not lawful, though the decision was stayed pending appeal.
- Federal judges in Oregon and Illinois blocked National Guard deployments to Portland and Chicago for law enforcement, finding the administration's claims exaggerated and "untethered to facts"

But MAGAs ignored all this. They pretended this wasn’t the case.
In reality, the people who did commit “Insurrection” were the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys who used the “1776 Returns” plan to infiltrate the Capitol in order to help implement John Eastman’s illegal Fake Electors plot by forcing Mike Pence to flee the building, which would have allowed Chuck Grassley to take his place implementing the plan. Because of Pence, that plot failed. They were all convicted.
And then Trump pardoned them.
They’ve loudly demanded that Democrats “name the statute?” that Trump has violated.
Bakari Seller responded with ”The Due Process clause”, but an even better answer would be the War Crimes Act.
That was their stance until the WaPo reported that Pete Hegseth had ordered an illegal Double-Tap strike on the first boat, because there were 2 survivors from the initial attack and he ordered the military to “Kill them all.”
In reaction to the criticism Hegseth posted this:
He thinks committing a War Crime is funny. He thinks the entire subject is a joke.
That brought a few critics.
That brought on a wave of criticism, with one X user replying, “On the bright side, once Trump dumps you, you’ll be able to return to drunkenness again. If you’re not there already.”
Former Rep. Adam Kinszinger (R-IL) told Hegseth, “You’re a sick man,” and later reposted the Hegseth tweet and added, “His trial is gonna be lit.”
Military veteran and Democratic congressional candidate Fred Wellman contributed, “You are so pathetic. The troops think you’re a clown try-hard loser. You’re a joke to everyone.”
“Shouldn’t they be hanging off the boat asking to be saved and then you killing them anyways?” liberal activist and YouTuber Keith Edwards asked.
Conservative columnist AD Tippet argued, “Seriously SICK TO DEATH of the WWE izing of our politics. When I first saw the perversion of gentle Franklin into that grotesque immediately figured another podcaster trolling for attention. But no, the guy in charge of the 4 million personal [sic], $800 Billion Pentagon. STUPID.”
NY Times columnist David French went biblical on Hegseth by writing, “’Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.’ Isaiah 5:20”
“I’m hoping they show this Hegseth post at his sentencing hearing,” actor Jon Cryer suggested on BlueSky.
Carleton University Journalism professor Christopher Dornan added, “The creator of the Franklin the Turtle children's books is Canadian author (and Carleton University Journalism graduate) Paulette Bourgeois. She may wish to rev up her copyright infringement lawyers just for starters.”
Popular BlueSky influencer Andrea Junker pointed out, “A prime example of why mediocre white men should not be elevated to positions of power.”
MAGAs want to claim that Biden’s vaccine mandate for the military was an “Illegal order” even though George Washington ordered the Continental Army to take the Smallpox Vaccine back in 1777. They don’t know history, they don’t know facts, they don’t know the Constitution, they don’t know the law, they don't know reality. Because, they don’t want to.
Thanks to the SCOTUS, Trump has “immunity” for using the DOJ to target his enemies, but somehow in their twisted minds they think they can prosecute Barack Obama and Joe Biden for supposedly doing the same thing? Supposedly, many members of their administration are being interviewed by the FBI on exactly those bogus charges.
All of this is based on the mistaken belief that Obama and Clapper “knew” that Russia didn’t hack the election results. Yes, they knew that. Everyone knew that at the time because the entire election system is too decentralized to be easily attacked.
But what they did determine is that 25 Russian were deserving of indictment for attempting to influence American voters using email hacks, bots and trolls on social media. The Senate Intelligence Report, with chairman Marco Rubio, confirmed this. Both Inspector General Horowitz and Special Counsel John Durham confirmed that Crossfire Hurricane was a legitimate investigation and that Russia was a “dangerous enemy.”
8 members of Trump’s entourage were indicted and convicted for various crimes, but most importantly, 5 of them were convicted for lying under oath about their contacts with Russians. Why exactly would anyone lie under oath about their conversations with Russians, when it’s illegal for a foreign nation to aid a domestic campaign? That’s not a hoax, that’s a cover-up.
[ht to Al Franken] They claim that they only want people here who “Love America,” but what they mean is the uncritical and unsophisticated idolization of a toddler for a parent who considers everything the parent does as “perfect" and “God-like.” All flaws and failures are ignored, excused, rationalized and white-washed. What they don’t want is a mature love of a parent for their child, love that understands and is critical of mistakes and imperfections, but ultimately wishes the object of their affection to grow up, become wiser and their best possible self. We don’t “hate America” when we bring up these mistakes; we want America to Do Better.
These people are lying to themselves because they can’t accept sad, brutal truths. America is imperfect. She has made many, many mistakes. They want the nation frozen in amber; unchanging, repeating the mistakes of her past over and over again. We wish to learn from those mistakes and move forward into greater maturity. To become a greater nation and “more perfect union.”
Unfortunately, we are not having a logical, intellectual debate about all this with them — because they are willfully delusional. (I mean, they openly admit that they think Lara Trump can sing!) They magically create the reality they want to see. They are always the Hero and anyone different is always the Villain.
Because they live within a reality-warping bubble, one that tells them what they want to hear, that they are responsible for nothing, and practically capable of anything.
