This December is shaping up to be a really busy one for me. Tonight and next Tuesday, I am attending two hockey games. Weeknight games are rare for me now that my sister switched to a school in the City and the Islanders switched to 7pm start times. It doesn’t leave enough time for her to get home to drive to the game and stop on the way for food. Now, she takes the train directly to the game and I get dropped off by mom who picks us up after the game. The one positive is I can sell my parking pass on the secondary market and make some money back. More on my sister’s job in a minute.
Even though I had scheduled a massage last month for Saturday and purchased theatre tickets to see Just in Time , the Bobby Darin musical, starring Jonathan Groff, my mom never bothered to check the calendar and requested a room in Atlantic City for this weekend. As a result, I have to change my massage appointment. The theatre tickets are locked in so we will be driving back to the City on Sunday for the show. From there, we will head upstate to where my mom is from because she is once again changing jobs.
My sister has been trying to become an admin in special education after all the years she has worked as a special ed teacher due to the mismanagement of special ed in every school where she worked. The money is allocated is regularly misspent as a disservice for the kids for whom the money is allocated. After not getting a number of positions for which she applied in the NYC DOE, she found a couple of open positions at the school district in the town where my mom was born and raised. After going through a couple of rounds of interviews, she landed the position of Supervisor of Special Ed for the school district. Because of this, she will be looking for a place to rent to live up there during the week while coming home on the weekends. We do have family who would welcome her in, but she does not want to put them out. We will spend Sunday, Monday and maybe part of Tuesday looking at places. There will also be other trips up there to move some of her stuff.
Also in December, I have a couple of check up appointments with doctors along with my regular weekly infusions. On December 25, we will do our traditional Jewish Christmas visiting our regular Chinese restaurant for dim sum and more and our regular movie theatre for a movie. We have not picked a movie yet. Two years ago, we started going to a bakery near the theatre, so we will stop there for pastries.
Finally, my mom and I will head back to Atlantic City for NYE. This year my sister and some friends may join if one her friends wants to spend her 40th birthday there.
I am sure there will be other things that pop up, but it seems half the month is already filled with things to do.
See ya next week!

From belinda ridgewood:
In today's Abbreviated Pundit Roundup by Chitown Kev, Dartagnan offered a passage about Pete Hegseth from an Atlantic article by Tom Nichols, that I thought summed him up perfectly.
