I was going to make this an open mic night (and you can still put in whatever you want—nobody’s checking sources on your selections), but then I thought about the recent news that listening to music on a daily basis helps reduce risk of dementia. So I decided to narrow down the theme a bit to basically ask “What have you been listening to lately?”
I heard this one on the radio while driving to the in-laws for Thanksgiving, for the first time, and it really moved me.
Ringo Starr ft. Alison Krauss :: Thankful
Just listened to this album a couple weeks ago, then it came up in discussion with my dad about Desert Island Disc’s—of which this is one for me. Title track:
Sparks :: Angst in My Pants
Still bummed over the death of Todd Snider. Saw a lot of his songs posted in tribute, but for some reason, no one posted this fav of mine—“The Ballad of the Kingsmen”
And speaking of late, lamented artists, we all also just lost Jimmy Cliff. The soundtrack to The Harder They Come is another DID for me. Jimmy sang about half the tracks, and again, I saw several of them posted, but not this one—another title track, “The Harder They Come”
Gentle reminder: Those on phones really appreciate it if you put the name of your selection in your comment along with your song; and people using screen readers need this in order to identify the video as well. You know how this works — Put your quarter in the slot and your song in the comments. This is your Saturday night jukebox and the party starts NOW~!
