I know, you may be getting tired of the topic of Thanksgiving.
But I had enough going on in my life during the last week, that I felt the need to share it.
The little dog is named Itzl.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at, to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wildfires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off Daily Kos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on Daily Kos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!
This is our current schedule of regular IAN diary writers:
Monday: Youffraita
Tuesday: bigjacbigjacbigjac
Wednesday: Tippy and Dad
Thursday: art ah zen
Friday: FloridaSNMOM
Saturday: FloridaSNDad
Sunday: loggersbrat
Let me start with the day before Thanksgiving, the 26th of November.
On that day, the senior center served us a truly tasty Thanksgiving meal.
The turkey meat was neatly sliced turkey breast meat that tasted outstanding, and we had dressing and whole berry cranberry sauce, and a slice of pumpkin pie.
Also, one of the activity directors walked around the room with a microphone, asking each of us what we were thankful for.
The senior center was closed on both Thanksgiving Day and the day after.
I already knew that on Thanksgiving Day itself, I would not have a family gathering, because my in-laws were scheduled to go to other extended family on that day.
A big part of that day for me was interacting here at IAN, reading and commenting at the hosting diary of Cat Riley (artahzen).
That made me feel good, to see us all give warm comfort to Cat Riley and her husband Bill.
I was also watching the news at the YouTube videos of MSNOW. (Formerly MSNBC)
Our plan was to have a family gathering on Friday, going out to eat together.
On Friday, my sister-in-law told me her husband was very ill, way too sick to go out to eat as we had planned.
Okay.
Another day of interacting here at IAN and watching the news.
On Saturday, I needed to do my laundry, my big load that includes all my bedding off my bed.
To do that, I walk to the laundromat about a quarter mile away.
The weather was truly cold, with a cold north wind blasting in my face.
Ha!
After I got back from that I had to fill my pill trays and fold and hang up and put away my clean laundry.
Then, on Sunday, I went to the nearby church, where I ended up getting a 5-pound bag of small potatoes.
They have a little box there for “give a little or take a little” food.
I had noticed the potatoes the week before, and I said I might like them, and a nice church lady said go ahead and take them.
I mentioned that I have onions in my backyard garden, and way too many cans of green beans, and she said next Sunday, bring some onions and green beans.
Sounds like a plan.
After I got back from church, I picked up all the trash all around the apartment complex.
My hands were cold at first, but I warmed up later on.
It always feels so good to get that big chore out of the way.
So, there you have my silly diary claiming that my Thanksgiving weekend lasted from Wednesday, the 26th of November, through Sunday, the 30th of November.
Hugs!
