I don’t have a lot to add. The headline pretty much says it all. But I do feel this deserves our attention and recognition. I simply want to say that if you are an HIV+ person (a gay male or otherwise), that your life matters and has inherent value. You are worthy of love and respect and recognition, even though the people currently in power refuse to see it or recognize it. Their bigotry is only a reflection of their ugly, hateful hearts and their using of religion as a weapon against the vulnerable - not anything to do with you. They found one more way to divide and demonize us — “the other.” Today I honestly feel embarrassed to be an American. This has echos from the early 1980s. We lost a lot of people to AIDS. They may be gone, but they are not forgotten. I hope anybody with this virus is able to still get the treatments they need, and the scientific world can continue to make progress without the help of the United States.
