Note: I use a ‘theme’ for my diaries, in an attempt to keep my writings on a cohesive path while I compose the diaries. It is also fun to see comments that fit within that theme. However, here in MOTland, all topics are welcome, it is an open thread. There are no demerits for being so-called ‘off-topic’. Thanks!

"Ya Ya" is a song by Lee Dorsey. The song was inspired by a children's nursery rhyme.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Dorsey was a childhood friend of Fats Domino. He moved to Portland, Oregon when he was ten years old. There he began a career in prizefighting, boxing as a featherweight in the early 1950s. He fought under the name Kid Chocolate and was not successful, fighting only one time and being knocked out in the second round.
After meeting songwriter and record producer Allen Toussaint at a party, he recorded “Ya Ya”, a song inspired by a group of children chanting nursery rhymes. It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc.

"You Can't Sit Down" is song originally recorded as an instrumental in 1959 as "Can't Sit Down" by The Bim Bam Boos, and popularized by the 1963 version by The Dovells, which included lyrics and vocals. The song peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on April 27, 1963, and charted for 14 weeks. The lyrics foreshadow the hip-hop genre with the invocation, "you gotta slop, bop, flip, flop, hip hop, all around". The Philadelphia 76ers used a modified version of the song with team-specific lyrics for the franchise's marketing campaign during the 1991–92 season.

"I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter" is a 1935 popular song. It has been recorded many times, and was popularized by Fats Waller, who recorded it in 1935 at the height of his fame. The lyrics are addressed to a lover and say that the singer is going to write a letter and pretend that it is a love letter from the lover.
The song had a major revival in 1957 in a Coral recording (on April 3) by Billy Williams. It reached #3 on the Billboard magazine charts. A reported million-seller, it was awarded a gold record. ==========================
