It took almost 80 years, but the Republicans have done it.
They have killed trust.
Trust in Institutions.
Trust in Truth.
Trust in Competence and Ability.
Today the FBI made an arrest in the “January 6 Bomber” case. Immediately all the cynical comments poured in. Hell, I’m even cynically thinking that Patel and company will go out of their way to portray the suspect as something the suspect is not just for political purposes.
Eminent scientists have now openly said that the CDC and NIH are no longer to be trusted but rather outlets for propaganda, the health of the nation be damned.
And so on, and so on.
This is their plan all along.
To establish not only a propaganda network, but to use such blatant lies—that everyone knows are lies—and to take that philosophy to the very institutions that are designed to tell us the truth about what’s happening—health wise, financially, whatever—and so infiltrate and infuse those institutions with the kinds of lies and propaganda they have been broadcasting on air for decades that any trust in statements by said institutions is automatically distrusted. I just read a comment about the arrest today asking “can we trust anything out of the FBI anymore”.
Mission accomplished.
We can completely win, and purge all the trumpists and republicans from the civil service, and it will take DECADES to repair the trust lost in less than a year. If it can be repaired at all.
Because if they take away the truth, they can stay in power with their lies.
And it all started with the destruction of one of the most important institutions.
A Free Press that will tell the ugly truth, speak truth to power, and be fearless.
Once the free press was lost—and make no mistake, the “legacy media” knows and accepts their servitude and anyone who still has the spine to be Cronkite or Murrow gets fired immediately—then this country was lost.
To the people who are thinking “once we win back power, everything will be fixed”, think again. And I don’t think anyone in Congress or currently thinking about running knows this. Or maybe they do but they won’t admit it. Because to admit it is to admit complicity, or at least willful ignorance.
Our trust has been murdered.
And it might not ever come back.
And how can we lead when everyone knows what happened and who did it? How can we ever “trust” ourselves again? Who in their right mind will ever trust us ever again?
Republicans waited 80 years for their plans to come to fruition.
We don’t have that luxury of time to fix what they’ve broke.
And nothing that anyone elected or on the tee vee thing has said anything to inspire faith that they not only comprehend what has happened, but that they have the means and ability to fix it.
I certainly don’t.
I can only sit in my chair and do the “If I were king of everything” bit.
So yeah. I’m in a bit of a mood today and while a rant doesn’t solve much, it gets some things off my chest.
